How does ABWheels work ?

The ABWheels is a creative design that uses a Multi-Touch track pad to maneuver the entire wheelchair around. Besides being able to navigate the movement of the wheelchair, it is also used to control the temperature and the sitting postures (recline or stand). The entire controls of the wheelchair are compact into a smart and sleek track pad built of glass to create a silky smooth touch relieved track pad. Besides that, the track pad has no separate buttons; this gives you more room for gestures.

3.1 Turning On & Off
To power up the ABWheels, simply just swipe your finger around the edges of the track pad one round (either clockwise or anticlockwise). By doing this, the retractable shin guard will protrude out. Similarly, to shut down the wheelchair, just repeat the same thing by either swiping ur finger clockwise or anticlockwise around the trackpad.
*The user is first required to sit down on the wheelchair before powering up the wheelchair to prevent the retractable shin guard to hinder the movement of the user. The same thing applies when powering down the wheelchair.

3.2Moving Around
·         3.2.1 Strolling
In order to navigate the movement of the wheelchair, the users are required to swipe their finger swiftly across the track pad (up, down, left and right) depending on the direction the users want to go.

·         3.2.2 Moving at a faster speed
To accelerate the wheelchair to a faster speed to cover more distance in a shorter period of time or to move up slopes, simply use two fingers to swipe up the track pad. To decelerate or to slow the motion of the wheelchair, again use two fingers to swipe down the track pad.

·         3.2.3 Rotating on the spot
To enable the wheel chair to rotate on the spot without moving backward or forward, place two fingers on the track pad. Without leaving the surface of the track pad, turn either clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the direction preferred

3.3 Sitting Position
·         3.3.1 Reclining
To recline the seats backwards, place four fingers on the track pad. Then swipe down to recline the seats, the more you swipe the more the seats will recline. Stop swiping when reach a desired angle. To return the chair to the normal angle, double tap the trackpad.
*Swiping quickly doesn’t speed up the reclining process. This is to ensure the safety of the users.

·         3.3.2 Elevating
To elevate the wheelchair to a standing position, place four fingers on the track pad and swipe upwards. When reached the desired height, you can stop swiping. Again, double tap the track pad to return the seats to the normal position.
*Always fasten the safety belt located at the side of the seats first before elevating, this is to ensure the safety of the users.

3.4 Temperature Regulator
To change the temperature, placed three fingers on the track pad and slide either left or right. By sliding right, the temperature will be rise (maximum temperature = 34 degrees). In the other hand, slide three fingers left across the track pad to lower the temperature (minimum temperature = 24 degrees). Each slides raise or lowered the temperature by only one degrees. The temperature will be indicated on the LCD panel located on the side of the track pad
*It takes about 3 minutes for the temperature to be lowered or raised
